I've always considered myself a pretty good brusher, but I think the combination of lack of any flossing and skipped teeth cleanings have resulted in the perfect storm of tooth decay. I just went to the dentist only to find that I had four cavities.
Obviously the experience wasn't pleasant, but it wasn't agonizing either. The most painful part was the needle they shoot into your jaw before they begin the drilling. After that it's pretty much a cake walk. They even put Seinfeld on the little TV/DVD device they had set up. I was in and out in no time. The fact that upon leaving half my face felt dead was kind of cool at first, but quickly became annoying as I struggled to keep the constant flow of saliva from dripping down my cheek.
So yeah my trip to the dentist was pretty standard, unfortunately I have no Hostile style horror stories to share with you. Just a quick in and out. The dentist did a great job.
So take it from me kids, take the extra time to floss. I know its not easy. If I may steal a quote from the late great Mitch Hedberg "I can't get into flossing, I can't. People who smoke say, 'You don't know how hard it is to stop smoking.' Yes I do. It's as hard as it is to start flossing. 'You seem jittery.' Yeah, I'm about to floss."
