Tooth Sealant

After turning 25 I was dropped from my parent's dental insurance, just because of my age. I had no way of affording my own insurance, and I had no teeth problems at the time, so I really wasn't concerned.

About a year later I was really starting to wish i could have a dental cleaning, even if I head to pay out of pocket for it. I decided to bite the bullet (no pun intended) and put myself on my dentist's cancellation list. Meaning if someone canceled their appointment, they'd give me a call and I could come in for a cleaning for the canceled time slot.

In the past year and a half I have since hitched a ride on my boyfriend's dental insurance. (Apparently being unwed domestic partners does come with some benefits.)

Well three days ago I woke up, and got my regular routine going like usual around 6:30 am. While brushing I noticed my lower left molar hurt to touch with the toothbrush.

Agony went through my mind. Is this my first cavity? I didn't think too much of it really just made a note that I had to call the dentist and make a real appointment.

About 7 hours later ,y phone rings. It's the Dentist calling to say they have an 8pm cancellation. Do I want to come in? You bettya!

I got so lucky. I couldn't believe they called me. It turns out I had just worn away some of the enamel on my tooth. There was no cavity.

Dentist put a little sealant on the tooth and it feels all better.

Now I'm back in the books and scheduled for an appointment in 6 months time.
