Acupuncture

With cost effective health care being a major topic of concern these days I thought it would be nice to talk about the ever increasing popular alternative: Acupuncture.

Of course I'm a bit biased, as I'm about to graduate with my master's in Acupuncture, and get my license.

Increasingly doctors are beginning to see the value of acupuncture in the care of their patients. One mistake people make is they use it as their last resource. "Nothing else has helped, I guess I'll give this a whirl."

Often our patients come to us with a host of problems, many of which are stemming from the medications they are using to control the original problem. By the time they seek treatment their bodies are depleted, and exacerbated to the extreme. When this is the case it is far more difficult to treat someone because there are other factors surrounding and complicating the main complaint.

The best advice I can give someone who is considering acupuncture is if you don't want to be on medication for your condition get your doctor's input and then go to an acupuncturist. See what they say. If you're not in a life threatening position its the best time to check it out.

Acupuncture is good for the following conditions:
  • Arthritic pain
  • Headaches
  • Insomnia
  • Back Pain
  • IBS
  • Nausea/Vomiting
  • Fatigue
  • Infertility
  • UTI
  • Restless leg syndrome
  • Menopausal Symptoms
  • Soothing menstrual issues
  • and more
A google search can help you locate a practitioner in your area.

I've heard good things about acupuncture but I've never tried it myself. I'd definitely be willing to try it though.
