Resveratrol

While talking with some friends about longevity, one of them brought up resveratrol, a chemical / nutritional supplement.

Its made from grapes, inspired in part by the French paradox, which makes note of the fact that French people have a low incident rate of chronic heart disease while at the same time eating a diet high in saturated fats.

Its not just longevity which resveratrol might be good for though. It is possible that it may help the body fight off cancer.

However, from what I've read, resveratrol isn't a silver bullet. Tests conducted by research labs across the world show some interesting results in simple life forms and even a vertebrate (a fish), but not as clear cut in mammals like mice.

Perhaps when humans have studies the effects of resveratrol for 80 or 100 years we'll know if it can extend out lives, and by how much.

Hey Albert, I've read about resveratrol as well! Apparently resveratrol lozenges work the best in terms of getting it into your bloodstream. The intitial research sounds convincing.

Hi Jim! Thanks for commenting. The reports I read made reservatrol sound like its good for you, even if it doesn't make you live to 200!
