A friend of mine is suffering from a painful pinched nerve. To try and help, I've started to research the condition. Here's a couple of links I found interesting so far:
- http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Neurology/Shoulder-Pain--Tingly-Arm--Pinched-Nerve/show/296716

Based on what I've read so far, treatments for pinched (compressed) nerve pain include:
- Laying low and not engaging in any strenuous activities
- Traction is where weights and pulleys are used to pull joints in an effort to reduce pressure
- Medication is sometimes prescribed for temporary pain relief
- Physical therapy
- Chiropractor therapy
- Acupuncture
There are pros and cons of each of those, and from what I gathered, the different therapies work with varied efficacy to different patients. There is no "silver bullet" for permanent relief from chronic pain.
